The four types of local government are counties, municipalities, school districts, and special purpose governments. Counties concentrate on law enforcement, keeping records, administering courts, and some public works. Municipalities are known as a city or town. School districts provide for local education. School districts are created by the state to help deliver educational services at the local level. Special purpose governments are financially independent of other local governments. Special purpose districts provide for one or two services like fire protection and water. However, in some cases they provide for more than just two services. The two major categories these local governments fall under are city and counties.

All of you got the 4 types, but none got it that they fall into 2 categories, those that are general purpose governments that can provide a range of services, and limited or special purpose governments that only provide one or two things. School districts, for example only provide education.
